## Description
Feedback Mango replaces static feedback forms with a short, adaptive interview:
a visitor taps a rating or starts typing, and the AI asks one or two smart follow-
up questions. You get themes and actionable insights on your Feedback Mango dashboard
instead of a pile of raw comments.
This plugin puts your Feedback Mango study on your WordPress site without touching
any code. Everything is a block, and each block carries its own study — so different
pages can ask different questions:
* **Inline** — add the “Feedback Mango” block where the launcher should sit. Set
its width and align it left, centre or right within its column.
* **Floating button** — add the “Feedback Mango floating button” block to your
footer template in the Site Editor and it appears on every page that template
covers, pinned to the edge of the screen. Its label, position and colour come
from the study’s settings on feedbackmango.com. Put it on a single page instead
and it shows only there.
* **WooCommerce post-checkout pulse** — add a block to the Order Confirmation template
to ask “how was buying from us?” right after a purchase, with a study of its
own. The block can also go inside the Cart and Checkout blocks’ own areas.
You’ll need a free Feedback Mango account and a study — creating one takes about
a minute at [feedbackmango.com](https://www.feedbackmango.com). Connect the plugin
to your account from Settings Feedback Mango, add a block, pick a study from the
dropdown, and you’re live. The beta includes 300 free written responses; if you
need more, reach out and I’ll raise your limit.
#### This plugin relies on an external service
Feedback Mango is a hosted service run by this plugin’s author at [www.feedbackmango.com](https://www.feedbackmango.com).
The plugin is the interface to it and does nothing on its own — the interview, the
storage and the analysis all happen on that service. Installing the plugin means
your site, and visitors to pages carrying a block, will talk to it as described
below.
**On your site’s front end.** A page containing a Feedback Mango block loads the
widget script from `https://www.feedbackmango.com/widget.js`. That script asks the
service for the study’s wording and appearance (`/api/embed/config/`).
If a visitor answers, the conversation runs in an iframe on `https://www.feedbackmango.
com/embed/` and what they say is sent to the service (`/api/embed/respond`,
or `/api/embed/rate` for a rating given on its own). Pages with no Feedback Mango
block on them load nothing.
**What a visitor’s answer carries.** What they typed and the rating they gave, plus
the address and title of the page they were on, the address of the page they arrived
from, their window size, their browser language and their time zone. Web addresses
have their query string and fragment removed in the browser before anything is sent.
Any values your own code puts in `window.feedbackMango.meta` are sent as well. The
widget sets no cookies and does no cross-site tracking; it caches the study’s display
settings, and a note that this visitor has already answered, in the visitor’s `localStorage`.
**In wp-admin.** Connecting sends your site’s address and name to the service and
stores the access token it hands back. While connected, the settings screen and
the block editor call `/api/v1/studies` and `/api/v1/org` to list your studies and
show your response allowance, and the block editor loads `widget.js` once to preview
the real launcher. Disconnecting calls `DELETE /api/v1/connection`. Each of those
calls carries two headers naming this plugin’s version and your WordPress version,
so the service can keep working with older plugins when its API changes.
**What the plugin never does.** It has no analytics of its own: nothing is sent
on a schedule, nothing is sent from a page with no block on it, and it never reports
what you do in wp-admin. Every call above is one this site makes because you asked
it to.
**What stays here.** Responses are never written to your WordPress database. The
plugin stores the connection token in one option, and each block stores the public
key of the study it runs.
Using the plugin means accepting Feedback Mango’s [terms and conditions](https://www.feedbackmango.com/terms-and-conditions)
and [privacy policy](https://www.feedbackmango.com/privacy-policy). Tools Privacy
in your admin carries suggested wording for your own privacy policy.

## Installation
1. Install and activate the plugin.
2. In Settings Feedback Mango, click **Connect to Feedback Mango** — a Feedback Mango
window opens where you sign in (or create an account) and approve. It closes itself
when you’re done, and your site’s domain is added to your allowed embed domains
as part of the approval.
3. Add a Feedback Mango block — to a page, or to your footer template for a site-wide
floating button — and pick its study from the dropdown.
Connecting is required — a block can only offer studies once your site is linked,
and studies are always picked from a list, so there are no keys to copy and no typos
to chase.
## FAQ
### Do I need a Feedback Mango account?
Yes. The plugin is the interface to the Feedback Mango service, so it needs an account
there to have anything to run. Accounts are free during the beta and include 300
written responses; unlimited quick ratings come with them.
### Where do responses go?
To your Feedback Mango dashboard, where the AI groups them into themes and insights.
Nothing is stored in your WordPress database.
### What about visitor privacy and GDPR?
The plugin sends personal data to a third party — see “This plugin relies on an
external service” above for exactly what, and when. The widget sets no cookies and
does no cross-site tracking, but it does cache its display settings in visitors’
localStorage and sends what a visitor types to Feedback Mango. Whether that fits
your obligations is yours to judge; Tools Privacy carries suggested policy wording
to start from.
### How do I hold the widget back until a visitor consents?
Use the `feedbackmango_should_inject` filter — return false and nothing is loaded
on that request:

### Can I use different studies for different pages?
Yes — every block picks its own study, from the block toolbar or its sidebar. A
pricing page and an order confirmation page can run entirely different interviews.
The same goes for the floating button: one in the footer template covers the site,
and another placed on a single page runs that page’s own study there.
### I already pasted the embed snippet into my theme. Can I use both?
No — remove the manual snippet first. Two copies of the widget script mean two feedback
buttons.
### The widget doesn’t appear.
First, make sure your site’s domain is on your organization’s allowed-domains list
on feedbackmango.com — widgets only run on domains you’ve allowed there (the study’s
Embed section shows the list; connecting the plugin adds your domain automatically).
Then check the block itself: a study must be selected on it, and an ended study
removes itself silently. Finally, check the browser console for a `[feedback-widget]`
message.
### Can someone copy my study key from the page source and use it on their site?
They can read it — it’s a public identifier, like any embed key — but it won’t work:
widgets only run on the domains your organization has allowed.
### What happens if I disconnect (or the connection is revoked)?
Nothing changes for your visitors either way: the blocks on your pages keep running
on the studies they were given. What you lose is the editor’s study list — a block
can’t be pointed at a different study until you connect again. Connections can also
be managed from your organization settings on feedbackmango.com.
### Does this work on multisite?
Each site connects separately and keeps its own settings, and uninstalling clears
them from every site on the network. Network activation is untested and not yet
supported.
### Where is the source?
Everything shipped here is the source. The plugin’s PHP, its block editor script
and its stylesheets are unminified and hand-written — there is no build step and
nothing is compiled or generated. The widget script itself is not part of this plugin:
it is served by feedbackmango.com, like the rest of the service.
