That is the CAD gold price per gram × 10 grams × 18k fineness × an 85% payout — the exact number you would quote across the counter, updating with the market. Parameters: currency, unit (toz/pw/g), weight, purity, payout, multiplyby, fixedamount, decimals, exchange, and animation for live colour-flash updates in the visitor’s browser.

Where the data comes from
Prices are served by the Gold Feed API, which has supplied precious metals data to dealers since 2010. Your server fetches once per cache window; widgets load from Gold Feed directly. See the Gold Feed terms and privacy policy.

How do I show the live gold price on my WordPress site?
Install the plugin and put
[gold_bid]in any page, post or widget area. That’s it — the current gold price renders immediately, free.Do I need an account or API key?
No. Prices display without any signup, updating once daily. A free Gold Feed account (one click from the plugin’s Settings tab) gives your site its own API key; the paid plan makes every price real-time.
How do I add a gold price chart or calculator?
Add the “Gold Feed Widget” block in the editor and pick Chart or Melt Value Calculator — or use
[gold_chart]/[gpl_calculator]anywhere shortcodes work.Can visitors calculate the value of their own gold?
Yes — the Melt Value Calculator widget lets visitors enter weight and purity and see the value instantly. You can preset your payout so it shows what you actually pay.
Which metals and currencies are supported?
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium, in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, CHF, CNY, JPY and a dozen more — per troy ounce, gram or pennyweight.
Does it slow my site down?
No. One cached request per interval feeds every shortcode on the page, and widgets load lazily in their own frames.
My prices stopped working on an old version of this plugin
The old free feed host was retired. Update to version 26 — the same shortcodes work again immediately, no changes to your pages.
How do real-time prices work?
Subscribe from the plugin’s Upgrade tab (checkout happens on the secure gateway and returns you straight to wp-admin). The moment payment completes, every shortcode and widget on your site updates every 20 seconds — nothing on your pages changes.
What happened to [gold_chart] and [woocommerceproduct]?
Both still work.
[gold_chart]renders the new interactive chart.[woocommerceproduct]renders the product’s store data when WooCommerce is active; spot-linked product repricing is part of the separate WooCommerce edition.
